The Dakota Hogan, AKA “RW Hogan,” is a custom-designed, 4-bedroom home at the top of Edelweiss Mountain. The cabin’s namesake, “Hogan,” refers to its design, modeled after the traditional dwelling of the Navajo people. With a traditional wood fireplace in the center of the home and a front door facing east to welcome the rising sun, this eight-sided home has wrap-around decks that offer panoramic views across the Black Hills.
The Hogan is entirely wood inside and out with beautiful hardwood flooring, custom spiral staircases, and is adorned with Native American artwork and textiles from the owners’ personal collection. The expansive two-story windows feature custom stained glass landscapes and the living room offers comfortable seating and extra sleeping space with a hideaway bed. The primary bedroom is on the third floor, with a private bathroom, king bed, and an enclosed deck. The two other bedrooms on the third floor each have queen beds and ample closet/storage for longer stays. As motorcycle enthusiasts, the owners decorated the fourth bedroom, located on the ground floor, with their Sturgis and Harley-Davidson memorabilia. This space is a perfect playroom for kids and adults alike, with a smart TV, private bath, two single beds, and additional sleeping space available with a trundle bed and hide-a-bed sofa.
This property has everything you need to feel comfortable at home, including Wi-Fi, satellite TV, family games, hiking trails, and central air conditioning, plus a one-of-a-kind design. It’s the perfect mountain getaway, with access to Lake Pactola, Rapid City, Deadwood, and Sturgis within an hour’s drive.
