Summary: The first thing to say is the photos of the location are misleading showing rolling green grass….the hotel looks like a 1960’s uk office block in the middle of a shopping mall Carpark! Once you get over that (!), it’s like going back in time but in an ok way inside. The bed was comfortable, staff friendly and parking outside was easy. Note the hotel seemed to be used by builders to stay overnight/weekly and so at 6am, bedroom doors start slamming. Don’t expect to sleep much beyond 6am if you’re a light sleeper on week days. We drove 2km downtown to a nice restaurant on the Main Street (?Brownmore?) for evening dinner as there was nothing appetising nearby and the hotel dining room only seems to open on the weekend. Breakfast is not quite as per Expedia say either, it was said to be included with our booking BUT the hotel gives you a $16 voucher each person towards breakfast in their public bakery/cafe attached to the hotel which is actually event food (ignore the old chairs!). It’s not really possible with tax (& tip) to be within $16/pp so expect to pay a top up. We had a Canadian equivalent of a uk breakfast which was tasty with a pot of tea each & paid $7 more. Their pancakes were huge, plate size, be warned. It was a popular breakfast place for non hotel guests too & did a decent job feeding us before a long drive.
