Welcome to Duck, Duck, Moose! This smoke-free cabin is a great choice for those who love nature and wildlife. During the summer, hear loons on the 2-mile-long pond just steps from the cabin. Watch the water's edge from the porch swing and see the ducks floating by. Go boating, kayaking, canoeing or swimming. In the winter, snowmobile to trails right off the pond, or go snowshoeing or ice fishing. Get cozy and warm by the wood stove when you come back inside. Be remote enough to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to town to easily enjoy shopping and restaurants.
This charming, beautiful, private new cabin with over 2,400 sq. ft. sits on 5 acres right on pristine Prong Pond, just east of Moosehead Lake. Prong Pond is known for great fishing and kayaking (and snowmobiling in the winter). There is a public boat launch on the north side of the pond, just 2 miles away. Lily Bay State Park on Moosehead Lake has a gorgeous sandy beach, walking trails and public boat ramp just 5 miles away. The center of Greenville with grocery stores, shops and restaurants is 6 miles away. From spring to fall, enjoy a ride on Moosehead Lake on the steamship Katahdin, or a ride in the sky on a float plane to see the majestic mountains and lakes in the area. In the winter, snowmobile or snowshoe right from the property. The ITS connects right to the pond (last photo is map of trails), so there's easy access to Moosehead, Kokadjo, Rangeley and all points north and south. On the property, there is a dock and the pond is warm to swim in during the summer. Bring floats and aqua socks. Two kayaks and one canoe are available for your use. There is a natural rock fire pit next to the cabin ready for a campfire with smores or your other favorite campfire foods.
The timber frame cabin, built in 2012, has an open concept kitchen, living and dining room, 2 main floor bedrooms (full size beds) and full bathroom, a very spacious loft with queen size bed, and a full finished basement with full bathroom. There is a 43" smart Roku tv in the living room and a small tv/dvd combo in the bedroom and a large library of DVD's.
Please bring your own towels.
There is room for two vehicles and a trailer in the driveway.
*Note, the last 2.5 miles to the cabin are on a narrow, gravel road.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but please, need to be completely dried off after swimming in the pond (or rolling in the snow) before going back in the cabin and need to stay off the beds. Sorry, no cats allowed.
