As you cross Crystal Creek and approach the cabin you can't help but feel a sense of anticipation. It appears to be part of the natural landscape as it nestles in this gently rolling terrain amid native rock next to the lively creek. It occupies the perfect spot within our 65 acre conservation property with frontage on the Green River.
The master bedroom, living room and two upstairs bedrooms are housed in the reconstructed 250 year old chestnut log cabins that have been moved to this site. A modern kitchen with large granite topped center island, an east facing sunny breakfast nook with built in black walnut benches and a generous sized farmhouse table seating 10 with possible extension is in the center section. This section also includes a renovated full bath with a new and large shower, toilet, and vessel sink. Also conveniently located in the bathroom are a washer, dryer and utility sink with access to the back deck. Upstairs a comfortable sitting area with a convertible couch and TV connects to the two bedrooms and full bath also newly renovated. All the beds have new mattresses purchased in 2019. The master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed. It's special feature is a small screened in porch facing towards the creek and the calming sounds of the waterfall. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a full size bed and a twin bed while the other has a queen size, and two twin beds. One of the twin beds is low under the eave and the preferred choice of any child. A deck and picnic table with electric BBQ grill off the kitchen invites casual outdoor dining while the front porch is the place to relax in a rocking chair with a glass of wine, listen to the waterfall, the children playing in the creek, enjoy the sunset and any passing wildlife. Our newest addition is a fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs is conveniently located in proximity to the creek and front porch. Also located close by is a small pond stocked with blue gill and cat fish. Unwind while fishing, feeding the fish or simply sitting on the dock or using the canoe. A trail leads to the Green River while numerous smaller trails meander throughout the property inviting exploration by foot or mountain bike. The water level of the Green River fluctuates due to an upstream dam. Depending on conditions there is great fishing, body surfing, skipping stones, watching minnows in shallow pools or sitting and meditating on the conveniently placed bench near the bank of the river as butterflies and herons come to visit. In season we share our blackberries and blueberries. Edible mushrooms such as Chanterelle and Oyster mushrooms can be gathered and are a special treat.
