Lodging on The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail

Shawnee Hills Wine Trail "Come for the experience, stay for the wine"

The Shawnee Hills region is established as a unique grape growing area in southern Illinois with an important AVA (American Viticultural Area) designation. This designation is an assurance that 85 percent or more of your favorite wine's volume is derived from grapes grown with the AVA. What does that mean for you? That crisp cold white you are enjoying on a summer day or the nuanced bold, dry red is enriched by the region's characteristic grape attributes. In other words, sip, savor, and enjoy.

Beautiful Southern Illinois

The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail traverses 40 miles of the Shawnee National Forest with 11 wineries as wine trail members, plus several individual wineries.

Plan your stay allowing time meander and enjoy the unique treasures in between each winery; specialty shops, spectacular trails, art galleries, breweries...

For a more in-depth wine tasting experience, weekdays and winter stays offer more one-on-one time at each winery. You might be fortunate enough to get a private tour.

Shawnee Wine Trail Events

There is always something happening on the wine trail. Each winery has its own unique events, such as StarView Vineyards' weekly unWINEd Fridays or Blue Sky Vineyards' very popular Derby Day.

The Wine and Food Pairing weekends (just three times a year) is a delicious way to experience the perfect balance of a good wine with delicious samples.

Check out the Shawnee Hills Wine trail website and mark your calendar for all the events the trail has to offer throughout the year.

Shawnee Hills Wine Trail

Food, Wine, Music

What is more enjoyable than a day filled with good food, a nice wine, and some soul soothing music?

Savor the distinct tastes of regional wines and a variety of food choices. Several wineries offer a cafe style menu to savor with your wine, beer, or sangria. Bring a picnic basket to enjoy with the winery's crisp white or full bodied red.

Want something a little more filling? Dotted along the wine trail is a plethora of unique restaurants to linger over for an evening. Hedman's Vineyard has authentic Swedish fare that is worth the drive from anywhere!
